Obituary of the Life of Lois Jeffery Ferchaud

For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good
fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown
of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day, and not to me
only, but unto all of them also that love his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:6-8

With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the beautiful life of Lois Jeffery Ferchaud,
born October 9, 1940, to James Jeffery and Erlen Jasmin Jeffery. Affectionately known as
“Moma Lois” and lovingly called Gram, she was a cherished soul. On the evening of December
19, 2025 at the age of 85, God tenderly called her home to eternal life in his heavenly kingdom,
where she is now at rest in perfect peace and embraced by His everlasting love and light,
peacefully surrounded by her beloved family.

Mourning her departure while celebrating her life is her devoted husband of 59 years Alex J.
Ferchaud Sr., children, Robert P. Ferchaud (Aileen), Alex J. Ferchaud Jr. (Robin), LaShoan F.
Burham (Keithon), sister Iris J. Dumas (Dennis), grandchildren, Ariel Ferchaud Triggs, Damond
Jackson (Rochelle), Arlaina Ferchaud Weber (Raleigh), Jarel Joseph (Joy), KeSean O. Burham,

Five great-grandchildren, Alexa, Raegan, McKenzie, Averi and Raiden. Brothers- in- law, Paul
Nelson, Lester Ferchaud (Stephanie), Alfred Grant Sr., and a sister-in-law, Dr. Vanessa A.
Ferchaud. Also left to cherish Moma Lois’ memory is her great aunts-in-law, Ora Lee Haydel
Ferchaud and Mary Ann Braud Edwards, two God children, Ricky Nelson and Katherin Levy, cousins Larry Stewart and Jeanie Sauzo, spiritual brothers, Clifton Oubre and Clinton Oubre, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Moma Lois was a woman of grace, faith, and compassion. A devout Catholic, she was a lifelong
member of St. James Catholic Church where her faith served as a foundation and guiding light in
her life. While she was in great health, she participated as a member of the Rising Sun Society and Ladies Auxiliary where she enjoyed the fellowship and joy in serving her community.

She was also an active alumna of the Magnolia High School class of 1960, often participating in the classes’ events and activities. She brought joy wherever she went, and her love for life was
contagious. She especially enjoyed mentoring her family, cooking, and dancing to her favorite
tunes. More than anything, she loved being surrounded by family and friends and she never
missed an opportunity to show up and celebrate life’s greatest moments with tears of joy.

Whether it was a birthday, a graduation, a holiday or a simple family gathering, Moma Lois’
presence made every occasion feel even more special. Her legacy of love, laughter, and faith
will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

Though she is no longer with us, we find peace in knowing that she is now resting with her
mother, Erlen Jasmin Jeffery; her father James Jeffery; her siblings, Bruce Jeffery and Gloria Sue
