Junius Howard, Jr.

Junius Howard, Jr., the beloved son of the late Junius Sr. and Lucille Howard, was born on June 23, 1950. He entered eternal rest on Saturday, December 6, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and steadfast perseverance.

Junius was married to the late Leora Marie Johnson Howard. Together, they raised five children: Kimberly, Keldrich (McKita), Kirsten (Keisha), Kip Howard, and Kelli (Larry III) Sorapuru. He was also a devoted father to his daughter, Lakita Preston. Junius was a loving grandfather to ten grandchildren and a proud great-grandfather to two.

He is survived by his brother, Cornell Howard of Edgard; his sister, Ana Mae (Herbert) Murhammer of Geneva, Switzerland; his devoted friend, Valerie Francis; his good friend, Ray Edwards; and a host of cherished brothers- and sisters-in-law, extended family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Leora Marie Howard; his parents, Junius and Lucille Howard, Sr.; his beloved sisters, Lilly Howard, Helen Howard, and Lucille Brown; his brothers, Rano, Phillip, and Earl Howard; along with many cherished relatives who welcomed him into eternal rest.

Pastors, officers, and members of Greater New St. Peter Baptist Church of Edgard, Morning Star Baptist Church of Wallace, King Solomon Baptist Church of Lutcher, and all neighboring churches are respectfully invited to attend the funeral service on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Greater New St. Peter Baptist Church, 200 W. 3rd Street, Edgard, LA 70049, with Pastor Roland Fiffie officiating.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by the service at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Young Cemetery.

Final care and professional services are entrusted to Treasures of Life Funeral Services, 315 E. Airline Highway, Gramercy, LA 70052.
