Baby Soraya R. Mitchell Obituary (2025 - 2025)

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Baby Soraya R. Mitchell, who entered into eternal rest on November 18, 2025. Born on August 24, 2025, in Kenner, LA, Baby Soraya was a beacon of joy and love in her brief time with us. Though she never spoke words, she spoke volumes through her soft coos and heart-melting smiles. As English poet John Donne once said, "Every man's death diminishes me, for I am involved in mankind." Yet, the loss of such a young life is especially poignant and reminds us of the precious fragility and transient beauty of life. Baby Soraya brought immense joy and love to her parents, Sabrina Stockman and Jade Mitchell, who cherished every moment they spent with her. She loved spending time with her great aunt Faye, and she would watch hunting videos on her dad's phone with a sense of fascination that only a child could possess. Despite her tender age, Baby Soraya's personality was beginning to shine through, and it was clear that she was a special soul. She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory. Survivors include her parents, Sabrina Stockman and Jade Mitchell; her siblings, Zade, Zaeya, Zailynn, Zyrie, Keenan, and Javeon; her aunts, Keena Mitchell Gastearl , Pastor Elieen Johnson, Deana Appleberry, Shawntell Stockman, and Shavonne Stockman; her uncles, Laterence Mitchell Sr, Yemana Mitchell, Jarmaine Mitchell Sr, Sean Stockman; and her grandparents, Lynette Stockman, and Albert Jr. Baby Soraya now joins in heaven her beloved relatives who preceded her in death: Uncles Curry Lewis and Lionel Stockman; Grandparents Deanna Mitchell and Otis Lumar, and Great Grandmother Mary Adams. In the words of Elizabeth Edwards, "She stood in the storm, and when the wind did not blow her way, she adjusted her sails." Although Baby Soraya's life was a brief gift, it was indeed a powerful one that has left an indelible imprint on the hearts of those who loved her.
