On Tuesday, September 22, 2020, Rose Mary Simon, a loving mother of eight children, peacefully departed this earthly life at the age of 82 at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge, LA. She was born on November 17, 1937 in St. James, LA to August Simon and Lydia Keller. She was born again and baptized at St. Luke Baptist Church at a young age where she remained a faithful member.
Rose was a quiet sweet loving person with a passion for serving others. She was focused on making sure that everyone was served, satisfied, and happy whether just stopping by for family events or for holidays. She was loyal and committed to her family. She loved spending time talking with her sisters on the phone. The lives of her children, grandchildren, and extended family were her primary concern. She was always willing to listen and help. She made sure that her family and friends were always welcome by having something cooked and the house was always clean. She also enjoyed watching dramas and reality shows, especially “Dancing with Stars”.
Rose leaves to cherish her precious memories, her (8) loving children: Cassandra (Roger Sr.) Comery, Karen (Edward Sr.) Jackson, Nedra Simon, Tesia Davis, Kevin Simon Jr., Furman (Tamica) Landry, Sr., Madrea (Jeffery) Scott, and Terrence (Temekia) Landry Sr, (1) Aunt Lillian Preyan, (4) Sisters Gracie Dumas, Wilhemina Palmer, Emma Young, Jaquiline Simon, (19) grandchildren, (29) great-grandchildren, (1) great-great-grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her loving partner Furman Landry, mother Lydia Keller, father August Simon, great-grandmother Lorenza Keller, grandson Kameron J. Simon, and sister Gail Simon Taylor.
There will be a public walk-through viewing beginning at 9:00am on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at Shekinah Glory Christian Fellowship Church, 10164 N Line St, St. James, LA 70086. A Private Family Funeral will follow. Interment at St. Luke Cemetery Moonshine, LA. Final care entrusted to Treasures Of Life Funeral Services, 315 E. Airline Hwy Gramercy, La. 70052.
