Obituary for Ronva Arnez Jackson

“For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” II Timothy 4: 6-8.

Ronva Arnez Jackson was born on January 29 ,1970 to Lena Trudeau Ketchens and the Late Earl Batiste Sr. She was the daughter in love of Lester Ketchens Jr. She accepted Christ at the early age of 6 and was baptized by The Late Rev. Lucien R. Garret Sr. at First Baptist Church of Vacherie. Ronva received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Phoenix in Business/ Accounting. She was employed by the St. James Parish School Board for over 20 years as a Secretary.

She leaves to cherish her memories her daughters: Keilah Jackson and Thelma Jackson; grandchildren: Gessiah McDowell, Stylez Jackson, and Daylun Poche; parents: Lena Trudeau Ketchens and Lester Ketchens Jr.; sister: Roxanne Batiste Freeman (Albert); brothers: Levan Ketchens (Saabira), Javis Jackson (Carlene), Lowell Batiste (Annette), and Earl Batiste Jr.; 3 Godchildren: Derica Joseph, Javin Mitt, and Aneisha Mitt; 4 grandchildren in love: Imani Dangerfield, Montelle Dangerfield, Kelis Brown, and Malik Brown; aunts: Shelia Landrum, Sonja (Rudy) Jones., Mavis (Robert) Johnson, and Jeannette Treaudo; uncles: David (Valerie) Stewart, Chester Joseph, and Thomas (Loma) Walters; a special friend: Alvin McDaniel; 2 devoted care takers: Daphne Capel and Tearsta Bell; close girlfriends: Candace Jackson, Vonnie Trench, Gabby Jack, Deneen Antoine, Nanette Ajayi, Lydrika Horton and Patreece Maddie; along with a host of other aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives, classmates, coworkers, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father: Earl Batiste Sr.; grandparents: Thelma Morris Stewart, Clarance Treaudo Sr., Feliska and Arthur Taylor, and Equator and Albert John Batiste; Godparents: Marguerite Oubre- Stewart and Oneal Stewart.

A Home-going Celebration will be held at First Baptist Church located at 1244 Magnolia Heights, Vacherie, LA 70090, on Saturday, August 6, 2022. Visitation 9am–11am. Services will follow promptly. Interment at First Baptist Church Cemetery. A repast will be held at the West Bank Reception Hall located at 2455 LA 18, Vacherie LA.
