Ronald Joseph Roussel affectionately known as “Football”, passed away at Southeast Louisiana War Veterans Home, Reserve, LA., on Friday May 22, 2020 at the age of 70.
Ronald was a native of Lucy, LA and current resident of Reserve, LA. He was also a prior resident of Sacramento, CA, Richmond, CA, Vallejo, CA and Oakland, CA. Ronald was a United States Navy Veteran from 1970-1974, where he served as a Bupersman. His achievements during his time of military service included: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic Vietnam Campaign Medal and Navy Unit Commendation award.
He is survived by his mother, Allison Gautier Roussel, siblings Arlene Stipe, Joycelyn Smith, Kerry Roussel, Anna August (Harry), Joan Bartholomew (Donald), and Cheryl Bastian . Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Ronald is preceded in death by his father Royal Forturner Roussel and brother Gary Paul “Foggy” Roussel.
A public viewing will be held on Friday, May 29, 2020 from 1pm – 3pm. Rosary at 1: 30 pm Final care entrusted to Treasures of Life Funeral Services, 315 E. Airline Highway, Gramercy, LA 70052. Interment at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Slidell.
