Obituary for Mikeaba Natasha "Keaba" Theard (Bazley)

Mikeaba Bazley Theard passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2022. Her final days were spent surrounded and supported by her loving family. She was born on April 20, 1974 in New Orleans, LA. She was a graduate of Sarah T. Reed High School.

Mikeaba entered the workforce as a security guard for Harrah's Casino. Her integrity and zest for life propelled her to succeed. She quickly advanced to a slot attendant and soon after a black jack dealer. Her employment with Harrah’s lasted over 15 years. Mikeaba’s dedication to continue to succeed in life would not let her settle. She would soon embark on a journey that would lead her to become an insurance claim adjuster. In less than 2 years she was promoted to a trainer within her department.

She was full of joy and loved to partake in bringing joy to others. She loved to smile, laugh and talk to everyone she encountered; she never met a stranger. Mikeaba took pride in being a mother, always putting her kids first, and instilling in them values, virtues, hard work, and love and appreciation for life. Her children's friends were like her own kids and she always had room for one more. She was an excellent cook, prized fighter, and a stupendous mother that filled everyone's life with joy and pleasure. Her charisma , goofiness, and resilience were all the ingredients of Mikeaba. She lived her life as many of us wish we could, because she never stopped. She was a wife, mother, daughter, and sister. She was also an aunt, friend, niece, cousin, co-worker, and “MOM” to many. Above all, Mikeba was loved and cherished by us all. She will forever remain in our hearts, and will be extremely missed. May she rest peacefully in Heaven's Kingdom.

Mikeaba is survived by a host of loving family and friends; her son: Troy; daughter: Elexis (Jaquan); mother: Dianne; sisters: Angel, Eyango (Vincent) and Schdawn (Nathaniel); adored nieces and nephews: Taylor, Alaina, Taylor, Nathaniel, Tramell and Vincent.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Calvin; brothers: Frederick and Rodney; and step-father: Thomas.
