“Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.” Matthew 5:5

Geraldean Coleman Mitchell a native of New Orleans, and resident of Little Rock, Arkansas departed this earthly life on Sunday, December 22, 2019 at 5:40am. She was born to the union of A.B. She graduated from Walter L. Cohen High School.

She fell in love and married Lucien Mitchell, and to this union 4 children were born: Brandon Akil Mitchell, Michela Gilmore, LaShana Mitchell-Bell, and Monique Mitchell.

Geraldean loved music and had a voice that could shake the nation. She was a very humble and loving person. She loved her husband dearly and was devoted to her children. Geraldean found joy is serving others. She never met a stranger. She loved children and was a Pre-school/Head-Start teacher at Catholic Charities and Louise Head-Start. She was the Director of Youth at New Kingdom Missionary Baptist Church in New Orleans. After moving to Little Rock, Arkansas she became an active member of St. Andrew Episcopal Church where she enjoyed feeding the homeless and singing. Geraldean’s favorite pastimes were helping others, feeding the homeless and having YouTube sing offs.

Cherishing beautiful memories, she leaves her husband and confidant of 44 years, Lucien Mitchell; 3 children Brandon, Michela and Monique; 12 grandchildren; 3 great-grand children; 3 sisters; 3 brothers; 1 Aunt, and a host of other relatives and dear friends.

Coleman, Jr., and Rufh Coleman; her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Louis Mitchell Sr., and Cornelius Mitchell; and two sisters-in-law Melvola Meredith and Claudette Mitchell.
