Obituary

Edna Catherine Lumar entered eternal rest on Sunday, May 2, 2020, at the age of 90 due to COVID-19. Beloved and loving daughter of the late Amelia and Whitney Lumar. Edna was an amazing mother, grandmother, relative, and friend.

Edna worked in the restaurant business as a cook for years. She was a devoted parishioner of St. John the Baptist Parish Catholic Church and the Bonsecour Benevolent Society. She adored her son and grandchildren; she truly spoiled them. Her passions were her family, sewing, crocheting, and baking. She was a devoted New Orleans Saints fan and ticket holder. She also enjoyed spending time in the Council on Aging Program.

Mourning her departure while cherishing precious memories are her only son, Steve Lumar; granddaughters Kreshanna Lumar Gardner and Brandy Patterson; great-granddaughters Kelsi Lynn, Kaeci Thai, Karli Mari Labaroness, and Khloi Jhoe Gardner; sister-n-law, Philomena Lumar; brother-in-law, Joseph “Fox” Hilaire; godchildren, Jovan Lumar and Gilbert Gordon; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother Amelia Mitchell Lumar; father Whitney Lumar; granddaughter Labaroness Lynne Harry; sisters Ceola Lumar, Evelyn Lumar, Beatrice Edwards (Ernest), Camille Lumar, and Helen Hilaire; and brothers, Sterling Lumar and Lawrence Lumar.
