Celeste “Big C” Oubre, was born on Tuesday March 16, 1943 to the parentage of the late Eugene and Lorenza Poche. Celeste was one of thirteen children. She accepted Christ at the early age of 5 years old and was baptized by the late Rev. Clarence Washington at Morning Star Baptist Church. Celeste had a love and passion for helping others. After completing her post-secondary education at Second Ward, she went on to become a Certified Nursing Assistant, and worked at Lafourche Home for Aged, and later Riverlands Healthcare until she retired in 1999.

Celeste was united in holy matrimony to Elry Oubre, Sr on February 25, 1967. Through this union they were blessed with five children Eldrick Oubre, Dellary Oubre, the late Catina M. Oubre, Elry Oubre Jr., and Eltonary Oubre. Celeste was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her unselfish generosity and kindness will be remembered most.

On Thursday, September 3, 2020, our Lord and Personal Savior dispatched his angels to carry Celeste to carry her heavenly home where she was reunited with her daughter after 28 years.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband Elry Oubre, Sr., four sons Eldrick (Danielle) of Tracey, CA, Dellaray (Gila) of Ft. Worth, TX, Elry, Jr. (Shannon) of Atlanta, GA, and Eltonary (Missy) of Vacherie, LA, twenty-two grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, five sisters Clementine Gros, Lorenza Poche, Isabella Poche of Wallace, LA, Geraldie Gray and Dorothy Glapion of New Orleans, LA, three god-children Chaenika Narcisse, Alaya Jacobs of Vacherie, LA, and Ciara Poche of Wallace, LA, one adopted daughter Dawn Smith of Baton Rouge, LA and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
