Obituary for Carolyn Ann Gaines (Williams)

Carolyn W. Gaines went home to be with Jesus on September 20, 2022, at the age of 83. She was born in New Orleans, La on August 23, 1939, to Abraham and Vivian Williams.

In her death she joins the husband she loved and cherished so dearly Rev. Ferdinand Gaines, Jr. They were the proud parents of six children, grandparents of twelve and great grandparents of nine.

She loved Jesus and served alongside her husband in ministry at First Community Antioch Baptist Church where he was the pastor until his death. She was the previous Director of Christian Education and Women’s Ministry.
She loved studying and teaching God's word. She was a Christian woman who loved all of God's Children and spent most of her time ministering to the needs of others. As an educator in the St. James Parish School system, she poured into the lives of many until her retirement. She loved her children and grandchildren dearly and loved cooking for her family.

Carolyn is survived by six children: Kevin H. Criddle and wife, Allison Criddle; Ferdinand Gaines, III and wife, DeWanda Gaines; Lanore G. Davis and husband, Rev. Craig Davis; Connie C. Jackson and husband, Jacque Jackson; DeNora D. Gaines; and Derrin K. Gaines and wife, Sheryl B. Gaines; adopted children: George and
Roxanne J. Payne; grandchildren: Dominique, Jarvis, Davon, Quindon, Monique, Anthony, Kalen, Kyle, Ryan, Jeremy, Marvion, and Kiersten; sister: Linda Bailey; brother: Percy Williams; sisters-in-law: Katherine Williams,
Verna Gaines Dean, LaRhonda Gaines Wilson; brothers-in-law: Edward G. Johnson, Lionel Bailey; godchildren: Alicia Bailey and Kourtney Wingate; and a host of other relatives and devoted friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Rev. Ferdinand Gaines, Jr.; parents: Abraham Williams, Sr, and
Vivian Jackson; siblings: Abraham Jr. and Gary Williams, Kathleen Johnson, and grandchildren: Craig Davis, Jr, Shannoez Webster and Coty Foreman.

There will be a public viewing held on Sunday, September 25, 2022 at First Community Antioch Baptist Church, 10860 Highway 3125, Lutcher, LA 70071 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.

All neighboring churches, pastors and communities are invited to join the family for a Celebration of Life on Monday, September 26, 2022 held at First Community Antioch Baptist Church, 10860 Highway 3125, Lutcher, LA 70071 at 11:00 am. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am. Entombment at St. Joseph Cemetery, Paulina, LA. Final care and professional services entrusted to Treasures of Life Funeral Services, 315 E. Airline Highway, Gramercy, LA 70052.
